IHPI member Howard Markel, M.D., Ph.D., writes a monthly column for PBS NewsHour. This month's article features the "strange" death of our 29th President, Warren G. Harding.
The column mentions how President Harding was never healthy, even during his tenure in the Senate. He was constantly battling some type of ailment, whether it was cramps, indigestion, fever, or shortness of breath, among other symptoms. His death was sudden and abrupt, yet not necessarily surprising or unpredictable.
Markel notes that despite the scandal and accusations that followed, Harding's death may not have been that strange after all.
